Pilates
Pilates is a very useful adjunct to rehabilitation following injury and its use following back injury is widely accepted and used. Pilates exercises concentrate on the core and how we control and protect the back during daily life.
The benefits of doing pilates exercises are many and include developing a strong core stability, ensuring correct posture, improving balance and co-ordination, helping correct muscle imbalances assisting recovery after injury.
Once the Physiotherapists are happy with progress following back pain, you will often be encouraged to do some pilates to help with your recovery and help prevent recurrence of your symptoms.
How we treat
The pilates sessions at Physiolistic are either individual 1:1 sessions or in small groups of 4 (max) and are run by Jo or Angela. They take place in the gym at Physiolistic. Your pilates instructor will generally want to assess you in an initial 1:1 session to establish your individual level. She will devise an individual program to meet your needs.
If you have been receiving physiotherapy previously at Physiolistic your physiotherapist will help set the initial level of exercise.
