Angela Botha
Founder & Clinical Director
Director and Chartered Physiotherapist (BSc Physio, MCSP, AACP , HCPC registered) PgCert MGT Former Travelling Team Physio McLaren F1 Elite Athlete Injury Consultant International Trainer and Mentor Advanced Trainer Compex Head of UK Winback Academy Angela knew from the age of 12 that she wanted to be a physio. Coming from a medical family in which her father practiced as a GP, she trained in South Africa, qualifying top of her class in 1998. Her passion for helping people through physiotherapy has seen her work in both the NHS, in independent hospital as a physiotherapy manager and in Elite sports teams. It was while in these multi-disciplinary environments that Angela wanted to take the extensive experience she had gained in a new direction by opening her own business which has physio at its core but is innovative and considers the whole body healing. Physiolistic therefore has close ties with numerous experts in their fields. A business based on a simple model of recruiting and investing in excellent staff whilst making the patient the centre of everything it does. It is the commitment to this ethos which has continued to make Physiolistic the success that it is. Her commitment to her profession and diagnositic and clinical skills has seen her reputation being held in high regard by both clinicians and patients alike and has helped to forge close links with GPs and Consultants in the locally and further a field to help ensure excellent continuity of care. Angela works with an array of patients from Elite athletes to your weekend warriors and patients just wanting to be able to walk better. This offers Angela the unique experience of having a vast pool of knowledge and expertise to call upon and has made her a very adaptable clinician to suit the treatment and approach to the individuals needs Angela is also acupuncture trained (AACP), a modified pilates instructor and speed, agility and quickness (SAQ) trainer. She is also one of the few physiotherapists in the country that is accredited to teach the use of Compex (computerised exercise) for rehabilitation and is an advanced trainer . Angela is a Winback tecartherapy expert and head of the UK Winback Academy and one of 6 trainers in the UK. She is also a trainer in radiofrequency for physioaesthetics. Angela is also diagnostic ultrasound trained and this has enabled her to implement this into her clinical practice and improve her outcomes and has a special interest in the treatment of TMJ (jaw) dysfunction and pain and also enjoys lower limb rehabilitation. She has designed a mentorship programme at Physiolistic and works as a Mentor and international trainer. She has also spoken at a number of conferences and webinars in her various expertise and innovation in physiotherapy.
Clint Botha
Business Director
Clint joins his wife, Angela, and the rest of the Physiolistic team as business director. Clint comes from a pharmaceutical background where he has worked in the NHS as a clinical hospital pharmacist covering areas such as neonatal intensive care and care of the elderly. For the last few years he has worked as a Principal Pharmacist at the UK Department of Health having completed his Master’s degree in Health Policy at Imperial College London. In his role as business director, Clint brings his wealth of experience and understanding of the healthcare environment to drive forward a business whose ethos is based on a commercially successful model which makes the patient the centre of all its activity. When time allows, Clint enjoys cycling, running and trips down to the coast.

Megan Kurzewski completed her studies at the University of Witwatersrand where she received her Bsc Physiotherapy. Since then she has been involved in a variety of areas of physiotherapy such as musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, neurology, and paediatrics. In 2021 Megan worked for the McLaren F1 team part-time alongside clinical director Angela Botha. Megan has a special interest in TMJ and sporting injuries and enjoys walking her patients through their journey to achieve their goals. Megan recently completed her Yoga Teacher Training course and has also completed her level 1 mat certification for pilates through APPI. In her spare time Megan enjoys spending time with family, doing yoga, exploring and travelling. # What do you enjoy most about being a physiotherapist? For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a physiotherapist. As an international athlete herself playing lacrosse, Emilie has a passion for treating sporting injuries and rehabilitation, as well as also having a keen interest in paediatric and adolescent physiotherapy. Emilie has specialist post graduate training in children and adolescent injuries. She is a Winback, Shockwave and Compex expert . She is also accredited in RS footscan, Vald foredecks and posture scan. Apart from lacrosse, in her free time she enjoys the gym, running and skiing.

Nardus has worked in hospitals and sports teams, where he gained experience with musculoskeletal, neurological and respiratory patients from all ages and diverse cultures. He has completed post graduate courses in dry needling and injury prevention. Nardus has performed physiotherapy at a high performance centre as well as multiple sporting events in South Africa. He was also the physiotherapist of a competitive school’s rugby, netball and hockey teams. He is also a competitive horse rider, especially in endurance riding and enjoys playing club hockey and action netball. Nardus’s passion for physiotherapy lies in endurance and adventure sports and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Nardus’s interests outside of work include rock climbing, hiking, long boarding and exploring new places. # What do you enjoy most about being a physiotherapist? I live for the journey that I go through with every single patient. Being there as a team member for the good and the bad moments. # What is your approach to working with patients? Holistic, patient-centered, results-driven and enjoyable. Being in pain is already miserable enough… rehab shouldn’t be. # How do you help patients achieve their goals? Tailoring everyone’s journey to suit them to get the max results. Adjusting styles of treatment when needed and celebrating the small victories to get to the finish line. When you run, 3x your body weight goes through your legs, when you walk, only a third goes through a leg. # What's the most creative excuse you've heard from a patient to avoid doing their exercises? My dog ate my exercises – followed by a picture of a dog eating an exercise sheet # If you could give one piece of advice to a household item to prevent injury, what would it be? I tell a lot of my patients that they are as stiff as a broom/plank. For a stiff back, doing a roll down like a human Swiss-roll cake works to relief tension in the back.
Ashley Dampier

Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist BSc (Hons) Physio, MCSP, HCPC registered Sports Massage Therapist Dry Needling Pilates Compex trainer Winback and shockwave expert Aesthetics Ashley Dampier graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) in Physiotherapy at Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 2018. Since graduating she has worked in hospitals and out-patient clinics gaining extensive experience in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, community, paediatric and neurological physiotherapy. Ashley has completed further courses in dry needling, neurological rehabilitation, paediatrics and women’s health. She has also completed training for Winback TECAR therapy and Aesthetics, shockwave and compex. Her favourite part about physiotherapy is seeing her patients achieve their goals and building meaningful connections with people from all walks of life. She most favours a patient-centred approach to treatment and finds that listening to her patients and asking several questions helps make her treatment more effective. In her spare time Ashley enjoys reading, Latin-American and ballroom dancing, bowls and tennis. She comes from a lovely small town in South Africa called Phalaborwa, right on the doorstep of the Kruger National Park. She loves animals and wildlife, and spending time in nature. A fun fact that she would like to share is that humans have the same number of vertebrae in their neck as a giraffe. Her most used quote with her patients is “the best exercise is the one that gets done”. If her washing line was a patient of hers, she would advise it to spread the load a bit more evenly to prevent point loading.

In her free time, she loves going on adventures with friends and family, exploring, running and being physically active. # What do you enjoy most about being a physiotherapist? As a Physio, my favourite thing is assisting a patient back to full mobility and health so that they can do the things that they’ve always loved doing like playing their favourite sport or being able to play with their Kids again. # What is your approach to working with patients? My approach does adapt to each patients needs however my main approach is to work on relieving the pain first, then look at a exercise plans that strengthen that specific area and reduce the chances of it happening again # How do you help patients achieve their goals? Danielle has further completed her Dry needling and taping course and is trained in Winback Tecar therapy, Compex and Shockwave. She has completed post graduate courses in sports and orthopaedics physiotherapy as well as BASI pilates. Simone has worked with various sports teams from adolescents to adults in both amateur and professional settings. She was a physiotherapist in a professional rugby team for 2 years where she managed injuries in the 18 to 21 year old professional rugby players. Simone was also the resident physiotherapist for a prominent boys secondary school where she worked closely with various sports such as rugby, hockey, basketball, cricket and waterpolo. Outside of work, Simone is a mom to a toddler who keeps her on her toes. She also enjoys partaking in park-runs, hiking, pilates, yoga and reading novels. As a student Simone played high level football and continued with 5-a-side football and netball until the arrival of her daughter. # What do you enjoy most about being a physiotherapist? Polly has completed additional specialism in Sports Massage, Taping, Hydrotherapy and Pilates. She is an expert user of Winback, Shockwave and Compex. After years working as a sports instructor with all ages, decided to combine his sports background in a clinical therapeutic environment. He then obtained a BSc degree in Physiotherapy studying at the international university in Amsterdam. He gained experience from different musculoskeletal and orthopaedic clinical settings around the world. Stratis has completed a minor-specialisation course in manual therapy and a personal training course. His passion as a physio is to help people in the best possible way to restore their movement and get better over a course of treatment while achieving their personal goals. Catherine graduated with a BSc (Honors) in Physiotherapy from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Post graduation, she served and worked in both private practice and public hospitals including Red Cross War Memorial Children's hospital, one of the top paediatric hospitals in Southern Africa, where her love of paediatrics grew. She has worked at an adolescent sports physiotherapy practice as well as with paediatrics, adolescents and adults for neuro- rehabilitation and cardiopulmonary assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. There is so much gratification in helping individuals achieve their goals whether it it to improve their quality of life, optimise their function or push their limits. # What is your approach to working with patients? The Patient-Physio relationship needs to be collaborative and dynamic so that the best possible solution can be found. #How do you help patients achieve their goals? When a goal is relevant to you and well defined with a structured plan to achieved it, the goal feels more manageable and attainable and therefore we feel more motivated to achieve it. # What do you like to do outside of physiotherapy? (Keeps the bio personable) I enjoy gardening, cooking, exploring new places, DIY projects, going for walks in nature, living-room karaoke and dance sessions and of course spending quality time with those I love. # Do you have any hobbies or interests that relate to physiotherapy? I have a passion for music, singing in choirs since i was 7, playing various musical instruments and grading in Trombone and Recorder (Descant, Treble and Base). The entire surface of your skin is replaced every month, which put another way means you have about 1,000 different skins in your life!
